Book & Lyrics by Sam Skinner

Sam Skinner is an Ontario lawyer and PhD Candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School. The inspiration for Famous 5 came from Sam’s experience teaching the Persons Case in various undergraduate courses at York University and the University of Toronto.

In drafting the lyrics for Famous 5, Sam draws directly from historical legal documents, biographical texts, and secondary sources - reworking judicial decisions, arguments, and archival texts into a musical form that reimagines Canada’s constitutional past.
